African Entrepreneurs visit MIT for Leadership Boot Camp

In November, 17 leading entrepreneurs from Africa visited Cambridge for the MIT Legatum Leadership Forum – Zambezi Week 2018, a four-day boot camp designed to bolster skills and amplify impact. NSE promotes Earth Day, signs Corporate Recycling MoU with RecyclePoints Limited

The Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with RecyclePoints Limited for the collection and recycling of waste materials generated at The Exchange’s offices.

This initiative is also a demonstration of the Exchange’s effort to ‘End Plastic Pollution’, which is the theme of this year’s Earth Day, celebrated globally on April 22, every year. Read More…


Nigeria Can Boost Economy With Waste Recycling – British Deputy High Commissioner

Ms. Laure Beaufils, The Deputy High Commissioner, British High Commission, has advised the government to see recycling of plastic and other waste as a means to boost the economic status of Nigeria.

The Deputy High Commissioner gave the advice at the commemoration of the 2018 Earth Day organised by the Lufasi Nature Park in Ajah, Lagos.

Unilever partners with RecyclePoints & Polly Alakija to beautify Ken-Ade Private School in Makoko

In demonstration of its commitment to make sustainable living commonplace, Unilever Nigeria PLC. employees have partnered with RecyclePoints and Polly Alakija to create a sustainable environment for children of Ken-Ade Private school, Makoko, Lagos. The tripartite partnership started with a sanitation exercise at the school premises and was followed up with building a borehole and a fence for the school.

Speaking on the partnership, the Marketing Director Foods, Unilever Ghana Nigeria, Ogedi-Alakwe Nsima, said that this is a furtherance of Unilever’s Perfect City Community Outreach Initiative to Ken-Ade Private School in Makoko. Nigeria’s Chioma Ukonu Wins $200k in Chivas Venture Contest

Nigeria’s Chioma Ukonu, COO of RecyclePoints, an incentive based recycling scheme, has emerged as the first runner-up at the Chivas Venture competition which took place in Los Angeles recently after pitching in front of a high profile panel including Oscar-winning actress, philanthropist and businesswoman, Halle Berry.

RecyclePoints wins Nigeria’s The Venture, takes home N1Million

RecyclePoints, an incentive-based recycling scheme that deploys the use of electric cargo tricycles, the first of its kind in Nigeria, has been announced as the Nigeria winner of The Venture, Chivas’ global competition, to find and support the most exciting social enterprises.

This week saw the exciting conclusion to the finals in Lagos, where Chioma Ukonu, co-founder of RecyclePoints, scooped the N1 million prize money and bespoke business mentoring. She will represent Nigeria in the Global Final in Los Angeles in July 2017, where she will compete with social entrepreneurs from 31 countries across six continents for a share of the $1 million fund earmarked to take their businesses to the next level. FCMB partners RecyclePoints on waste recycling

First City Monument Bank (FCMB) Limited recently became one of RecyclePoints’ value chain partners, by subscribing to the company’s corporate recycling programme.

With business activities and operations aimed at encouraging diversity, adhering to health and safety standards, as well as reducing or totally avoiding where possible negative impact on the environment, the bank took this business initiative as part of its resolve to support its bold sustainability policy.

As part of the programme, which is aimed at motivating a behavioural change in waste disposal, the company trained the janitorial staff at the bank’s headquarters on identifying recyclables and waste recycling, as well as the social benefit aspect of waste management activities. Read More…


Winners in Aso Villa Demo Day initiative commend Airtel for N3m cash support

Three young entrepreneurs who emerged winners in the Aso Villa Day Demo (AVDD), a presidential initiative aimed at promoting entrepreneurship and innovation through the use of technologies, have commended Airtel Nigeria for promoting creativity.

Emmanuel Okena, founder of Tracology; Mazi Ukonu founder of Recycle Points and Damilola  Olokesusi, founder of Shuttlers were at the telco’s Banana Island, Headquarters in Lagos recently to redeem their cash prizes.

They were awarded cash prizes of N3m each for creating apps aimed at enhancing service delivery and solving critical societal challenges. Director of Brand & Advertising, Airtel, Mr. EnitanDenloye presented the cash prizes to the winners. Read More…
